The aim of this study is to examine tax and tax perception in social media. Tax and tax perception are studied by using most widely used international social media platforms such as Google Scholar, Google, Wikipedia, Twitter, and local social media platforms such as Ekşi Sözlük. Social media users' thoughts, contents and the frequency of sharing on tax issues are examined. Moreover, social media usage of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance that is responsible from taxation is examined. The primary data collected are analyzed by methods such as content analysis and inter-period comparison. It is observed that the issue of tax receives increasing attention on social media. It could be suggested that tax becomes a trending topic in some occasions on social media and that it is included in shared contents by users. It could also be suggested that social media is more important instrument than traditional media to influence the perception of tax positively and to inform the society about tax issues.
