The effect social media upon the family socialization function: Example of Ankara

Nowadays overuse of social media by family members is one of research subjects of social sciences. In this study, to understand the continuing socialization function of the family in the social media, the descriptive analysis based on qualitive method and interview technique are included. The interviews were carried out in Ankara province in Akdere, Abidinpaşa, Şentepe and Çiğdemtepe neighbourhood. As a result of interviews, qualitative findings were obtained that today's social media applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tic-Toc, virtual socialization applications, sharing the family's socialization function as a socialization tool that sustains adult socialization.
