Crime and criminality in sociological perspectivecrimes in the city of Afyonkarahisar

While crime is defined as all kinds of behaviour committed in violation of a law forbidding or commanding it and for which punishment is imposed upon conviction, the definition of this term has always been altered with the determined norms and rules since the existence of the societies. Terms, such as value and norm, substantive to the rules which are effective to obtain the social order have been primarily clarified. Definition of the crime fact and the crime theories has also been discussed in details. Afterwards, the crimes entitled ?Murder? and ?Wounding? in the Turkish Penal Code have been elaborated.Regarding the penal dimension of the acts which constitute a crime, philosophical base of punishment, objective of punishment and punishment theories have been discussed. Furthermore, a survey has been conducted on the prisoners who were convicted of murder and wounding in the penal institutions which are situated in the city of Afyonkarahisar. In finding the causes of violent crimes which were committed in Afyonkarahisar, results of the survey have been evaluated to provide data and it is understood that many reasons such as; upbringing of children, process of socialization and more generally the cultural values can be effective in committing these crimes. It is seen that, the reasons such as verbal insults and provocation are mostly precipitating causes in committing murder and wounding crimes.Key words: Crime, criminality, penalty, murder, woundi.
