Abstract (EN)

The main problem of this thesis is to examine and reveal the effects of family and religious institutions in the formation of the concept of identity, which is vital for individuals and gives meaning to their lives, from a sociological perspective. The concept of identity is a dynamic structure that reveals the identities, similarities or differences of the individual with other individuals, allowing the individuals to be recognized in the society and to gain a place for themselves. Identity formation is affected by many factors. Since it constitutes the main subject of the thesis, the concepts of family and religion have been emphasized and the roles of these institutions in the formation of identity have been studied sociologically. In order to reveal the main problem of the thesis, the basic concepts of identity, religion and family were discussed and examined in detail in the study. In addition to this, subjects closely related to these concepts are mentioned under sub-titles and theories related to identity from a sociological perspective are discussed. After stating the subject, purpose and importance of the research, the concepts of identity, religion and family are explained and the relationship between religion and family institution, which is effective in identity formation, is discussed.
