Reflections of World War II to Soviet literature

The Second World War, which started with Germany's attack on Poland in 1939 and affected almost all geographies on earth in a short time, is one of the deadliest wars in human history. This war, in which the mighty states mobilize all their forces and participate as a whole, turns into a truly global struggle, as it results in the deaths of millions of people, from members of the army to the civilian population. The Second World War, which started in an extremely violent way in two big continents, Asia and Europe, becomes the scene of a much more difficult conflict with the inclusion of the USSR, whose borders Germany suddenly reaches despite the non-aggression pact they signed. In the face of this unexpected development, the Soviet Union, which suffered great losses at the beginning, soon switched from defensive to offensive with the strong support of the rear. This struggle of the Soviet Union takes its place in the historical records as the "Great Patriotic War", since all the peoples within it always stand behind it in the fight for life and death. In our study, the focus of our narrative, which started from the entry process of USSR to The Second World War, is Soviet literature, which is the main tool that successfully motivates the people to survive during the war. In the application phase of our study, in which we touched on works dealing with the war in many ways, from prose to poetry, from songs to articles and essays, women, soldiers, peoples and children, who were the main participants who had a decisive role in the victory of the Soviet Union in a short time, were divided into subheadings and the heroism they showed during the years of struggle was mentioned. Immediately after, the works in which the stories of these people, most of whom are real people in Soviet literature, are discussed, and in the last section, a sample of the works in question is selected and analyzed in detail. Thus, in our study, in which the Great Patriotic War, which is the equivalent of The Second World War on the Soviet front, is conveyed by making use of original sources, it is aimed to contribute to the future research of two main disciplines by highlighting the relationship between history and literature.
