Turkish image in Soviet Russian history textbooks

Like all social sciences, the history education policy is also important for all states. The content of these corses to educate the new generation about identify themselves in a cosio-cultural way and recognizing the state that they belong to. This study aims to determinate that the education policy in Soviet Socialist Republics between 1917-1991, and determinating the Turkish Image in high schools' history textbooks which have been prepared according to the this policy. It has been investigated of Turkish and Ottoman images and related approaches in the term of the history education that was affected by communism. Russia is the leader of the Soviet Union and with high Muslim and Turkish population, so the education about the people and their history inside of it, is very important. It is dicccussed that Bolshevik revolution's "Soviet people" Notion and Russin's "Other", "we and the others" notions in this context. Political changes and ideologies of education and the effect on history education and textbooks in Soviet Russia examined through the breaking point of five basic methodology of history, this has been interpreted to changes in the breaking point. In this study, it has been used the method of descriptive analysis, teaching of history textbooks that were taught in the Soviet era were examined and the findings, were evaluated together with the image of the Turkish. The pictures in the history textbooks of the period included the study in order to interpret the intended message visually. As a result of the examination of Soviet history textbooks in the political arena, affects the observed changes, and these changes were observed that it is valid for "the image of the Turkish".
