Russia's politics on regional integration and cooperation projects in post-Soviet era

Our thesis aims the examination of Russia's perceptions and politics toward regional organizations founded in Eurasia in the process of harmonization by the emergence of new international system in the aftermath of Cold War and Soviet Union and by this way the analysis of the ways of structuring its economic, political and military goals via regional integration movements. In this context, we first focused on Russia's political, economic and social transformation in the new era trying to reveal its strategic aims and requirements. The theorectical framework is determined on the dual based perspective such as conflict-competition and cooperation-functionality in the wake of modifications observed in Russia's approaches and plans concerning regional integration process. Undoubtedly, the modifications occurred in the international conjuncture since 1990s forced the new Russian state to upgrade its strategic objectives based on political, economic and military interests, which by the new millennium induced steering to more concrete steps on contributing regional integration process. Russia tries to impose itself as a country respectful to internal law in a constructive manner, opposing clearly a US-Atlantic centered unipolar hegemony. However, hegemonic tendencies in Russia's politics toward regional integration process may be apt to harm country's integrity and reliability not only on regional but also on global scale.
