Abstract (EN)

In this study, the comparation of the hemodynamic effects of esmolol and MgSO4 by using iv bolus injection along with their low dose infusion during laringoscopy and endotracheal entubation, during the period of prone position which is a speciality of the LDH operations, providing of hemodynamic control during extubation, sedation during recovery period and pain control during postoperative period in the patients who were operated for lomber disc hernia was aimed. After obtaining Ethical permission, this clinical prospective randomized placebo-controlled study was planned. Under general anaesthesia, a total of 60 adult, 18-65 years old, ASA I and II level risk group patients were underwent elective lomber disc hernia operation, by dividing intro three equal groups (n=20). A bolus dose of esmolol (0,2 mg/kg) along with infusion dose of esmolol (50 µg/kg/mn) and a bolus dose of MgSO4 (30 mg/kg) along with infusion dose of MgSO4 (10 µg/kg/hr) prior to extubation were administered by two different protocols and and control group received saline and its infusion. The preoperative, intraoperative and post operative SAP, DAP, MAP, HR, ETCO2, SpO2, NRS and mRSS were assessed. Additionally, possible side effects were recorded. In conclusion, administration of esmolol and magnesium sulphate in lomber disc hernia surgery to provide hemodynamic stability was more effective and safer than the control group but no significant difference being detectable was found.Key Words: Spinal surgey, esmolol, magnesium, hemodynamic effect
