Examining the relationship between empathy levels and sportsmanship skills of faculty of sports sciences students in terms of different variables

The aim of the research is to examine the relationship between empathy levels and sportsmanship skills of students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences in terms of sports activities and different variables. The research group consists of 705 students studying in sports science faculties designed in the relational survey model in the 2023-2024 academic year. "Personal Information Form", "Empathy Level Determination Scale" and "Multidimensional Sportsmanship Orientation Scale" were used as data collection tools in the research. In the analysis of the data, primary descriptive statistics were calculated and it was determined that it showed normal distribution. Due to its normal distribution, parametric tests such as t-test, ANOVA analysis and correlation tests were applied. Cronbah's Alpha analysis was applied to examine the internal consistency values of the data. Tukey's multiple comparison test was applied to detect significant differences between groups. The results were evaluated according to the significance level of p<0.050. As a result of the analysis; A significant difference was detected in the empathy levels of the students according to their gender, the department they are studying in and whether they were punished during their sports career. Significant differences were detected in multidimensional sportsmanship orientations according to gender, the type of sports they do and whether they received punishment during the sports process. It was determined that there was a positive relationship between the participants' empathy levels scale sub-dimensions and the multidimensional sportsmanship orientation scale sub-dimensions.
