Analysis of the relationship between instagram addiction and physical self perception in faculty of sports sciences students

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between Instagram addiction and physical self-perception of sports science students. The population of the study consists of students studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Yalova and Sakarya University of Applied Sciences in the 2022-2023 academic year, and the sample consists of 301 students from both faculties who voluntarily participated in the research. The Physical Self Scale (adult version) whose validity and reliability analyzes were performed by Çağlar et al. (2017) and the Instagram Addiction Scale adapted to the Turkish population by Kavaklı and İnan (2021) were used as data collection tools. The study data were evaluated by transferring them to the SPSS program. As a result of the analyzes, there was no significant difference between physical self-perception and Instagram addiction and age and department variables, only Instagram addiction and 3 sub-dimensions (escapism, disengagement and obsession) in favor of women, and there was a significant relationship between physical self-perception and Instagram addiction in one sub-dimension. (obsession) has been shown to be a significant positive relationship.
