Examination of the relationship between social integration in sports and communication skills of sports sciences faculty students

Examination of social integration in sports and Communication Skills of Faculty of Sport Sciences Students According to Some Demographic Characteristics The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between the level of social integration in sports and communication skills of the students of the faculty of sports sciences in terms of some demographic characteristics. The research group consists of a total of 534 students studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Muş Alparslan University. The demographic information form prepared by the researcher, the 'Social Integration Scale in Sports' whose validity and reliability study was conducted by Yılmaz, Karlı and Yetim (2006) and the 'Communication Skills Assessment Scale' developed by Korkut (1996) were applied to the participants. SPSS 22.0 package program was used for the statistical analysis of the data, and the statistical significance level was considered as 0.05 in the study. The data were tested for normality and it was determined that they were not normal. In this context, Mann Whitney U-test was used in comparisons of two groups, and Kruskal-Wallis H-test was used in comparisons of more than two groups. In addition, Spearman correlation test was used to determine the relationship between the subdimensions of the scale. A significant difference was found between the sub-dimensions of the scale of social integration in sports and gender, active sports status, type of sport, age, class, department, income, mother's education and father's education status. While there was a difference between the communication skills scale sub-dimensions and age, class and father's education level, no difference was found between other variables. As a result, it was determined that the level of social integration in sports increased depending on the development of communication skills.
