Abstract (EN)

EXAMINATION OF SELF-CARE LEVELS OF SPORT SCIENCES STUDENTS This research was conducted to determine the self-care agency levels of university students receiving sports education according to sociodemographic variables, to examine the relationship between them and to reveal the affecting factors. This study was designed as a general screening model based on a quantitative survey. The Self-Care Agency Scale, developed by Kearney and Fleischer in 1979 and translated into Turkish by Nakhchivan in 1994, was used in the study. The results of the study show that the participants generally like themselves, take the necessary precautions for their health and tend to make healthy decisions. It was revealed that the participants were largely conscious and determined about self-care. In the examination according to gender, it shows that male and female participants have similar levels in terms of self-care agency. In the examination according to the department they study, it shows that the participants have similar levels in terms of self-care agency according to the departments they study. In the examination according to the class they study, 1st year students have significantly higher self-care agency scores than 4th year students (1 > 4) and 2nd year students have significantly higher self-care agency scores than 4th year students (2 > 4). These findings show that students' self-care ability scores decrease as their grades progress. In the examination according to their sports activities, it shows that there is no significant relationship between sports activities and self-care ability scores. In the examination according to their mothers' educational status, it shows that there is no significant relationship between the mothers' educational level and the participants' self-care ability scores. In the examination according to their fathers' educational status, it shows that there is no significant relationship between the fathers' educational level and the participants' self-care ability scores. In the examination according to their monthly personal expenditure status, it shows that there is no significant relationship between the monthly personal expenditure level and the participants' self-care ability scores. In the examination according to their place of residence, it shows that there is no significant relationship between the place of residence and the participants' self-care ability scores. In the examination according to their sports activity type, it shows that there is no significant relationship between the sports activity type and the participants' self-care ability scores.
