Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to examine the predictive role of sport character on self-efficacy among middle school students who participate in sports and those who do not. The research was carried out using a quantitative research approach based on the survey model. The population of the study consisted of middle school students studying in Ankara during the 2024–2025 academic year. The sample was determined through a simple random sampling method, and data obtained from a total of 200 students were analyzed. The data collection tools included a personal information form, the Sport Character Scale, and the Self-Efficacy Scale. The data obtained from the scales were analyzed using the SPSS statistical software package. In the data analysis, descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation were used, along with independent samples t-tests and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The level of significance was accepted as p < 0.05.According to the findings of the study, it was determined that students who participate in sports have significantly higher sport character traits and self-efficacy levels compared to those who do not participate in sports. In addition, significant differences were found according to demographic variables such as gender, and grade level. In conclusion, the results indicate that students who participate in sports demonstrate higher levels of sport character and self-efficacy than those who do not. These findings suggest that there is a significant relationship between participation in sports and students' sport character traits and self-efficacy levels. It is believed that the results draw attention to the importance of sports in students' development and may contribute to educational policies aimed at promoting school sports.
