The effect of organizational ethical climate perceptions of sports organization employees on their whistleblowing tendencies

Abstract (EN)

This study was aimed to examine the effect of sports organisation employees' perceptions of organisational ethical climate on their whistle-blowing tendencies. The study was conducted using a descriptive and correlational survey design, which falls within the general survey model of quantitative research methods. A total of 240 personnel, including 110 women and 130 men, who worked in the provincial organizations of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the Aegean Region and voluntarily agreed to participate in the study, were selected through purposive sampli In the study, a personal information form prepared by the researchers, the 'Organisational Ethical Climate Scale' and the 'Whistleblowing Scale' were used as data collection tools. The data obtained from the study were analysed using SPSS 2023 and JASP statistical software. A negative, low to moderate significant relationship was found between certain subdimensions of the organizational ethical climate and specific subdimensions of whistleblowing. It was observed that the climate for behavior, a subdimension of the organizational ethical climate scale, had a significant predictive effect on both the inaction and positive attitude towards whistleblowing subdimensions of the whistleblowing scale. In addition, the climate for rules, another subdimension of the ethical climate scale, was found to significantly predict the fear of retaliation subdimension. The results revealed that the organisational ethical climat may influence whistleblowing behavior rather than directly.
