The effect of spiritual leadership behaviors of sport organization employees on organizational burnout

This research was conducted in order to determine the effect of spiritual leadership behaviors of public sports organization employees on their organizational burnout. While making the sample selection, convenience sampling method was used. The sample group of this study consist of sports specialits and sports education specialist working Public Sports Organization (Provincial Directorates of Youth and Sports). In the study, the spiritual leadership scale developed by Fry (2003) and adapted to Turkish by Gündüz (2014), the burnout scale developed by Pines and Aranson (1988) and adapted to Turkish by Çapri (2013) and a questionnaire consisting of demographic information were used as a data collection tool. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, and arithmetic average were used to evaluate the demographic information of the employees of the the sports organization. Independent t-test decipher the difference between the two groups, and one-way variance (ANOVA) test was used to determine the variables containing more than two groups. The relationship between spiritual leadership and organizational burnout was investigated by correlation analysis. Regression analysis was used to reveal the level of influence of spiritual leadership behavior on organizational burnout. The findings obtained from the research have shown us that there is a moderate negative relationship between spiritual leadership behaviors and organizational burnout. When we looked at the demographic information, it was found that the age and working year variables differed according to spiritual leadership behavior and organizational burnout. As a result, in this study, it was found that spiritual leadership behaviors of sports organization employees predict organizational burnout through regression analysis.
