Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the emotional intelligence and goal commitment levels of university students who do sports and the level of social media commitment. In this study, "screening research", one of the quantitative research models, was used. The universe of the research consists of university students. Since it was not possible to reach the entire population, the sampling selection method was used. In this context, the study population of the research consists of 509 university students determined according to the convenience sampling method from the provinces of Bartın, Trabzon, Ankara, Istanbul, Bolu, Eskişehir, in the 2020-2021 season. The "Personal Information Form", consisting of 6 questions prepared by the researcher as a data collection tool, was developed by Schutte, Malouff, Hall, Haggerty, Cooper, Golden, and Dornheim (1998) and rearranged as 41 items in 2004 by Austin, Saklofske, Huang, and McKenney. "Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale (SDIS)", adapted into Turkish by Tatar et al. (2017), was developed as 9 items by Hollenbeck, Williams, and Klein (1989) and revised as 5 items by Klein, Wesson, Hollenbeck, and Wright (2001) and Şenel and Yıldız (2016) adapted into Turkish, and the "Internet Addiction Scale" developed by Günç (2009) for which validity-reliability studies were conducted. Data collection process; The survey questionnaire, which was created with three scales and the added personal information form, was uploaded to 'Google' and sent to the participants on the internet, and the returned data was automatically dropped into the data pool on 'Google Drive'. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 22.00 package program by performing frequency, percentage statistical analysis, t-test, Anova and Regression tests. In the analyzes made with the findings obtained from the data, a significant relationship was found in the ESDI sub-dimension and total dimensions according to the gender variable. In this context; A significant correlation was found in favor of women in the sub-dimensions of "optimism" and "use of emotions" (P<0.0.5). There is a significant difference in the total dimension of LLL according to the age variable. There is a significant difference in the total dimension of LLL according to the variable of doing sports. There is a significant difference between the SMDS and the variable of doing sports. A significant difference was found between the income level variable and SCI. There is a significant difference in favor of 1500 TL and less between the 1500 TL and below option and the 1501-3500 TL option between the SMDS and the income variable. A significant difference was found between the Grade Level variable and the ESRS in the "evaluation of emotions" sub-dimension. Accordingly, there is a significant difference in favor of 2 classes between the 2nd and 9th grades. A significant difference was found between the maternal education level variable and LLL. In this context, there is a significant difference between primary and secondary school and university preferences in favor of primary and secondary school options. A significant difference was found between the father's education level variable and SMDS. Accordingly, there is a significant difference between university and secondary school options in favor of the university option. According to the age variable ANOVA analysis; A significant difference was found between the age variable and LLL. Accordingly, there is a significant difference between the 24-26 age group and the other age groups in favor of the 24-26 age group. A significant difference was found in the sub-dimensions of ESDI according to the variable of years of sportsmanship. In this context; In the "use of emotions" sub-dimension, there is a significant difference between 1-3 years and 7-9 years in favor of 1-3 years. Social media addiction is a negative and statistically predictor of university students' emotional intelligence levels in the regression analysis regarding the prediction of SCI with SMD ((R= ,410, R2 = ,168, F (1,388) = 78.241 p<0.01). LLL' In the regression analysis of predicting SMB with SMB, social media addiction is a negative and statistically predictor of university students' level of goal commitment ((R= .420, R2= .176, F (1.388) = 82.988 p<0.01). As a result of the study, it was determined that goal commitment and emotional intelligence were negatively related to social media addiction. In this context; As the level of emotional intelligence and target addiction increases, the level of social media addiction decreases.
