Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the study is to examine the impact of participation of high school students in sport on academic achievement and self-efficacy. The research conducted in a screening model in the 2015-2016 academic year. A total of 1481 students, including 837 (56.5%) male and 644 (43.5%) female students who study in 9 different high schools participated in the study. In the research study, personal information questionnaire, academic self-efficacy scale and trait sport confidence scale have been used as data collection tools. In the analysis of the research data, 'percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean and standard deviation' techniques were used as descriptive statistics. In addition, t Test, Chi Square Test, Point Biserial Correlation, Logistic Regression and Structural Equation Modelling analyses have been used. As a result of the research, it has been seen that high school students perceive themselves as having low-level self-efficacy according to the academic self-efficacy scale scores. According to the trait sport confidence scale scores, students perceive themselves as having middle-level self-efficacy. No significant differences were found between grade levels, parents' education levels, body mass indexes, academic achievements of the students while there was a significant difference between gender, high school education type, academic self-efficacy and trait sport confidence variables.
