Relationship between psychological resistance, goal commitment and rational and intuitive decision making styles in students

This research aims to examine the relationship between psychological resilience, goal commitment and rational and intuitive decision-making styles in student athletes. The research was designed by adopting the correlational research method, which is among the quantitative research methods. Within the scope of the research, the Brief Psychological Resilience Scale, the Goal Commitment Scale, and the Rational and Intuitive Decision-Making Styles Scale were used as data collection tools in addition to the demographic information form created by the researcher. The sample group of the research consists of 272 student athletes, 158 of whom are male (%58.1), 114 of whom are female (%41.9). 82 of the student athletes are studying in the department of sports management (%30.1), 139 of whom are studying in the department of coach education (%51.1), and 51 of whom are studying in the department of physical education and sports teaching (%18.8). On the other hand, the average age of the student athletes is 20.62. The Gpower program was used in determining the sample group of the research. In the study, a significant difference was found between the PRS score averages of the athlete students according to the gender variable, while no significant difference was found between the score averages of the GCS, RIDMSS sub-dimensions RDM, IDM styles. On the other hand, a low level positive significant relationship was found between GC and PR, and a medium level positive significant relationship was found between GC and RDM, while a positive but statistically insignificant relationship was found between GC and IDM. A low level positive statistically significant relationship was found between PR and RDM, and a low level positive statistically significant relationship was found between PR and IDM. As a result of the regression analysis, it was found that the established model was statistically significant and 44.5% of the variance in the dependent variable was explained by the independent variables. On the other hand, it was found that rational decision making was an important and significant predictor on goal commitment, but intuitive decision making was not a statistically significant predictor on goal commitment. As a result of the regression analysis, it was found that the established model was statistically significant and 25.9% of the variance in the dependent variable was explained by the independent variables. On the other hand, it was found that rational decision making was an important and significant predictor of psychological resilience, but intuitive decision making was not a statistically significant predictor of psychological resilience. As a result; Among the important results of the study are that men have higher levels of psychological resilience than women, and women have higher levels of goal commitment than men.
