Abstract (EN)
Communication, which is used to transfer emotions, thoughts, ideas, and information from one person to another, can be divided into different areas. Visual communication, which expresses the transfer of information through visual elements rather than verbal communication, is considered one of these areas. Visual communication can be shaped according to its usage in different contexts, and this shaping is achieved through the uniqueness of the visual language used in communication. This visual language, regarded as the identity of an organization or institution, stands out as one of the most important elements that affect the brand value of that entity. Visual identity, which helps increase brand awareness and ensures a lasting impression in the minds of consumers, is the primary requirement for any globally managed structure, regardless of the field. The aim of this study, which begins with theoretical insights derived from literature reviews on visual communication design in the fields of sports and branding, is to highlight the importance of visual identity and branding by demonstrating how globally renowned sports organizations adapt their visual identity to their brands and products. In this context, the chronology of movement and modern sports throughout history and the foundations of visual identity usage in sports have been identified, and the final section presents an in-depth analysis of the visual identities of contemporary sports organizations. Another anticipated benefit of this study for readers is to observe how visual identity is adapted to the sports industry, which has become a vast industry in today's world, and how it facilitates communication.
