The role of moal decision-making and moral disengagement tendencies in the effect of alienation in sports on athlete behavior

Athlete behavior, which is the subject of this research, has two aspects: "Prosocial and Antisocial" discussed in the context of alienation and morality. The aim of the research is to determine the mediating role of moral disengagement tendencies and moral decision-making attitudes in the effects of alienation in sports on athlete behaviors, and to determine the differentiation and relationship status of these variables according to some demographic characteristics. For this purpose, T test, ANOVA, MANOVA, Correlation analysis and CFA were performed, and the mediating role was tested with SEM. The sample is in 18 provinces; A total of 972 athletes, 492 women and 480 men, aged between 14 and 30, competing in team and individual sports as amateurs and professionals. Prosocial and Antisocial Behaviors Scale in Sports (PSBQ & ASBQ), the Alienation Scale in Sports (ASS), the Moral Decision-Making Attitude Scale in Youth Sports (AMDYSQ) and the Moral Disengagement Tendency Scale (MDTS) were used as data collection tools. As a result, PSBQ "Education, Family status, Sport category, Athlete status and License age", ASBQ "Gender, Education, Family, Sport category and Athletic status", ASS "Gender, Education, Sport category, Athlete status and License age", AMDYSQ "Gender, Education, Family status and License age" and MDTS "Gender" main effect values were found to differ significantly according to demographic variables. In addition, a negative relationship was found between "Income level" and ASS, ASBQ and MDTS, a positive relationship between "Age" and ASS, PSBQ, and ASBQ, and a negative relationship between AMDYSQ. According to the effect analysis, alienation in sports negatively affects prosocial behaviors and moral decision-making attitudes; It directly affects antisocial behaviors and moral disengagement tendencies positively. In addition, moral decision-making attitudes directly affect prosocial behaviors positively and antisocial behaviors negatively. Moral disengagement tendencies directly affect prosocial behaviors negatively and antisocial behaviors positively. As a result of the mediator model test, it was determined that moral decision-making attitudes and moral disengagement tendencies had a mediating role in the effect of alienation in sports on prosocial and antisocial behaviors.
