Abstract (EN)

Eskişehir Province is a transition zone between the Aegean Stress System and North Anatolian Fault System, which are the leading seismic sources of Turkey. Geologically, it has a complex feature due to the different thicknesses and transitions of the gravel, sand and clay layers. Soil properties should be examined in detail in order to make reliable engineering structures and regular urbanization. The Standard Penetration Test (SPT), which is widely used in the determination of soil properties, and the Cone Penetration Test (CPT), which has been increasingly used recently, are of great importance as in-situ tests. In this study, we tried to establish a correlation between these two experiments. The three important factors that determine the soil structure are fine grain content, grain size and soil type, which were taken into account in the evaluations. CPT qc (tip resistance) values, conversion to SPT N values were evaluated empirically by statistical methods and a comparison was made between each other. The liquefaction event on the ground due to the earthquake causes damage to many buildings and loss of life. A liquefaction analysis was carried out using the Chinese Code Method applied in China and CPT and SPT, and a liquefaction hazard map of study area in Eskişehir province was tried to be created.
