Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of various treatments and conditions on germination and seedling development of Stachys byzantina C. Koch (Lamiaceae) seeds were investigated. When the effects of constant and variable temperature treatments on germination and seedling parameters of the plant were examined, it was found that the germination percentage of S. byzantina seeds at 25 oC temperature was higher than 22/15 oC temperature. Constant temperature treatment increased the germination percentage, shortened the germination period and positively affected the seedling parameters. Accordingly, the germination percentage of the S. byzantina was 39.83 ± 1.38% at 25 °C, 16/8 hours, while the germination percentage was 33.42 ± 0.83% at 22/15 °C, 16/8 hours. When examined in terms of root length, stem length and number of leaves in S. byzantina, it was observed that these parameters were higher at 25 °C constant temperature. When the effect of 13 different treatments on the germination percentage of the species was evaluated, it was determined that the most effective treatment on % germination was mechanical scarification + 100 GA application at 25°C, with a germination rate of 54.44 ± 1.11%.
