Software usage in inventory management: A company application in automotive supply industry sector

One of the most important assets that enterprise resources were spent on is inventories. Better management of inventories provides significant competitive advantages to enterprises. Although many methods to the management of inventories are available, take advantage of software packages have become more important. One of the software that is used in management of inventories is ERP. ERP is a software system that provides an easy and effective management by integrating all functions of enterprise and it has a modular structure.In this study, the inventory management process of a company which is operating in automotive supply industry in city of Aksaray, and which is using SAP R/3 ERP system is being discussed as an application example. The benefits and disadvantages of using ERP software system in inventory management of the company are being examined. The results that are obtained from the company were compared with literature results and it has been seen that there were similarities between the results and literature results.Key Words: Inventory Management, ERP, Automotive Supply IndustryScience Code: 1143
