Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine the optimal location for a new concrete batching plant within the borders of Samsun province. The strategic positioning of concrete batching plants is of great importance in minimizing logistics costs, efficiently meeting customer demands, and enhancing operational efficiency. In this context, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods and optimization models have been integrated to determine the most suitable facility location. Firstly, the criteria considered in the site selection process were weighted using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Subsequently, the TOPSIS method was applied to prioritize the neighborhoods based on these criteria, and unsuitable alternatives were eliminated. Following this preliminary screening process, the remaining neighborhoods were analyzed using the P-Median and P-Center models, which are mathematical modeling methods for facility location selection. The P-Median model aims to minimize the total transportation cost, while the P-Center model seeks to minimize the maximum distance to the farthest demand point. Through the application of these models, the most optimal facility locations in Samsun were identified, ensuring an efficient and effective logistics network. This study demonstrates that the integration of multi-criteria decision-making methods and optimization techniques enables effective decision-making in facility location selection. The findings can serve as a guide for decision-makers in various industries, particularly in determining the optimal locations for concrete batching plants.
