Abstract (EN)
The paper is concerned with examining the effect of systematic training, especially cross-cultural and service-explicit training, on employee communication, flexibility, and task performance in food and beverage sections of hotels in Azerbaijan. In this growing globalization of the hospitality industry, the capacity of the first line staff to provide services to the guest of various cultures has emerged as the significant test of service quality. The study contributes to filling the gap of the existing body of knowledge, as it helps to understand the impact of the training intervention on core competence of the staff, working in the cultural-bred environment, in the hotel industry. Strong employee satisfaction was shown by descriptive statistics, which showed consistently high mean values for training-related questions, particularly Q2 and Q1. A Cronbach's Alpha of 0.967 verified the instrument's internal consistency, indicating exceptional reliability. Kruskal-Wallis H and Mann-Whitney U tests were used in the hypotheses. The results emphasize the plan value of analytical and culturally adapted training materials, which are varied according to experience level and favored with reflective learning in the case of senior personnel. Practical suggestions are extended to the managers of hotels, leaders of the departments, and trainers. The paper comes to the conclusion that the ongoing, bilingual and culturally sensitive training is the necessity to maintain the quality of the services and the performance of the workforce in the developing hospitality industry in Azerbaijan.
