Strategic awareness, sector analysis, the basic components of strategy and the relationships between performance: A qualitative analysis

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between strategic awareness of enterprises, external enviroment (sector) analysis, evaluation of main components of strategies and performance. The research was conducted on the scale of small and medium sized enterprises operating in Düzce. Grounded theory, content analysis and descriptive analysis techniques which are qualitative research methods, was performed on 32 firms that responded positively to the interview request. The data obtained from face-to-face interviews with the participant firms were subjected to various coding processes and the themes that reached the dimensions of the research were reached. In this respect, 33 categories have emerged under 7 themes and a total of 60 codes have been obtained to reach these categories. Looking at the results obtained from the research, it is seen that the enterprises have strategic awareness; in line with this strategic awareness they have obtained, it is observed that they perform external (sector) analyzes. On the other hand, businesses, the basic components of the strategy; there are some shortcomings in talent development, culture shaping and organizational structure design; As for the last component of the strategy, it is concluded that companies can achieve awareness. The impact of all these factors on performance is concluded, although positive acceleration in the perspective of customer, internal processes and learning and development has been achieved, they can not provide the necessary financial effectiveness.
