Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out to determine macroscobic and microscobic effects of Equisetum arvense plant?s pomats on skin wounds in streptozotocin induced diabetic and normal rats.In this study 112 male Wistar albino rats, aged 3-4 mounts, weighing 180-240 g have been used. 8 groups have been prepared 4 of which are control. 14 animals were in each groups. Diabetes mellitus was induced in Wistar-Albino rats by the administration of a single intraperitoneal dose of streptozotocin (60mg/kg body weight). Two days after STZ injection, animals with blood glucose levels above 200 mg/dL were defined as diabetic and used in the study. 1,5 cm dermal and subdermal incisions were made at the backs of the rats and E. arvense pomats doses (5 %-10 %) administrated on the wound for 7-14 days. Wound closure was macroscopically and microscopically measured at 7 and 14 days after wounding. Results were determined statistically. As a result of experiments normal 10 % E. arvense pomat administrated group was showed 99.96 % macroscopic healing at 14 days after wounding. At microscopic measurement 10 % E. arvense pomat administrated group was showed higher dermal and epidermal regeneration, angiogenesis and connective tissue proliferation thickness after 14 days. When compared with untreated groups microscopic and macroscopic result of both diabetic and control groups which treated with pomat of E. arvense plant showed better results than untreated groups.
