The interaction between stress sources and career management: An application on stock exchange office workers

The aim of this thesis is to reveal the interaction between stress source and career management, and measuring the stress level of the stock broker workers and the stress factor on a person?s career life.Stress, the effect area and the negative features on workers of which increases every day, and that is known as the illness of modern world, is one of the most important problems of the business world. Stress that has negative effects in view of workers and organizations, can also be defined as a means that causes a person to start moving and reach his goals faster. The increase in productivity and performance of the workers in the organization and continuing in a positive line is possible only with an effective stress management.The evaluation of the attitudes of the stock broker workers about organizational stress sources, requires the career management tools to be used effectively in Human Resource Management. Starting from this point, stress sources in finance sector especially in business world, has great importance in view of its forming the person?s career future.The surveys on stress management and career about 98 stock expert who work in the sector that is chosen related with the subject and who are exposed to the stress concept and its negative results more than others, helped to reveal the workers degree of being affected from stress, stress factors resulting from work and from outer environment and stress factors resulting from personal state.That the people who joined the survey are under stress mainly because of reasons caused by work, and that the stress level of the portfolio managers among the stock brokers are quite high, and that the stock broker experts and assistants claim that their salaries are low when the stress level in their work is taken into account, are among the important findings of the research.Key Words: Brokerages, Career, Career management, Stock market, Stress.
