Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this article is to study the commercialization trend in the management of water resources under the influence of globalization and process of privatization. It is investigated the effects of commercialization trend of water resources and services on non-governmental organizations, international organizations and states.Many countries are facing water shortage. In some regions of the world, water scarcity is being experienced. Water resources which are very important for everyone are under the influence of some threats like climate change, drought, flood and pollution. Moreover, the existence of non-effective implementation of policies on water resources management is another problem. In this point, public sector has been remained insufficient in the management of water resources. In order to solve the problem, private sector is becoming priority because of its financial power and qualified service mentality.Private sector has an important function in terms of effective using and maintaining of water resources. Because it takes into account the cost prices of the water resources. There are some arguments about that managing water resources by private sector will have some troubles. These arguments are based on this opinion: Water is a human right.Turkey, like many other countries in the world, have some problems in the management of water resources. In order to overcome these problems, there is a trend in privatization of water services and commercialization of water resources. The main proposition of this thesis is to show the existence of commercialization trend in the management of water resources in Turkey.Key words: water, water management, commercialization, private sector, water problem
