Özet (EN)
From past ages to the present, the importance of water for human life is too great to be ignored. While at the most primitive level of life in history, colonies were located close to the water source to meet basic needs such as nutrition, cleaning, etc. The first cities of ancient times were built on the riversides and the locations where accessing water would be the easiest. Ancient people started using water not only for fundamental needs but also for aesthetical purposes in the key areas of their cities. As a result, pools, fountains, and water canals were built in the city squares. With the development of urban life, the amount of water use has increased. Water is an inexhaustible resource and many countries have faced this problem today. In this thesis study, it is aimed to determine the current situation and to develop suitable depth suggestions for various uses by evaluating the depth variables of water elements used in public outdoor spaces, based on ecological, economic, functional, safety, and aesthetic criteria. For this purpose, a literature review on the subject has been made, experts have been interviewed, and field studies have been carried out with existing water elements in the city of Antalya. As a result, it is appropriate to use a minimum depth of 15 cm in water element designs, however, it has been revealed that different depths can be used in water element design in accordance with the purpose of use and an algorithm has been developed for this depth value.
