Abstract (EN)

In the introduction chapter (Chapter 1), the subject, aim, method, scope, and limitations of the study are outlined, and information is provided about Süheyl ü Nevbahâr and its language, which is one of the texts from Old Anatolian Turkish (13th-15th centuries) that forms the main material of the study. The introduction is limited to general information about word formation, a fundamental concept of the topic, and the types of word formation, as well as a review of the relevant literature. In the second chapter, compounding, one of the types of word formation, is discussed in detail as part of the theoretical framework of the study, and the opinions on this topic are analyzed analytically. Finally, based on the information evaluated in this section, the classification developed for the main part of the study is presented. The third chapter, which constitutes the main body of the thesis and is titled "Word Formation in Süheyl ü Nevbahâr: Compounding" examines all the couplets in the work; words formed through compounding, as members of the lexicon, are described and exemplified based on the established classification. Additionally, the compounded words listed are compared with similar examples in older and newer Turkic languages and dialects. Finally, the study concludes with the sources used and an index prepared to facilitate the use of the work. The index is particularly useful in providing a comprehensive view of the lexicon covered in the study. This study primarily aims to demonstrate that, besides suffixation, which is the most productive word-formation tool in Turkish, compounding is also actively used as a word-formation tool. The classification developed for this purpose is applied to Süheyl ü Nevbahâr. Accordingly, 1649 lexicon members formed through this method were identified in the work, which indicates the fulfillment of the study's objective.
