Suleyman Ates's perspective on the Verses of the Rules

We can basically divide the verses of the Holy Quran into several sections according to their subjects: belief, morality, provisions and stories. The verses of the Quran regarding the provisions are categorized in three parts in terms of fiqh: worship, transactions and punishment. The Quran has been interpreted in various ways throughout Islamic history. These studies were generally discussed and examined under two main headings: narration interpretation and rationa exegesis interpretation. One of the important scholars in terms of his studies in the field of exegesis and the students he educated is Süleyman Ates. In this study, Süleyman Ates's comments on the verses of the provisions, his method of explaining the verses and how he evaluated these verses were examined in the context of his work titled "Quran Interpretation". Süleyman Ates did not imitate a particular sect in his commentary, but expressed original views on the subject. While interpreting the verses of the provisions, Ates sometimes preferred one of these views by quoting the views of previous commentators, and sometimes he himself put forward a different view, contrary to tradition. Ates, who approached the hadiths cautiously, criticized the narrations contrary to the Quran for their reasons. By including the fiqh details of the issues in his work, in the sections where he explained the verses related to the rules, he not only discussed the fiqh dimension of the verses, but also included the messages that can be derived from these verses.
