Turkish Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat I, who acquired the throne which he had desired for earlier times and waged wars for at a time in which he did not expect with the choice and preference of Seljuk state men after the stages of absence from home, defeat and captivity as the ruler of the years 1220-1237 having the right decisions and measures, both acquired large lands thanks to his high competence of ruling, political and military cautiousness his understanding of economy, his realistic, balanced political intelligence with respect to the issues related to security and interests of the country during his 17-year reign and also defended powerfully his principle with peace, security, wealth, quietness against the Mongolian invasion as the devastating reality of the century. In this context, his basic objective and engagement in foreign politics developed in two ways. Attributing great importance to the security and gain of Mediterranean and Black Sea trade , war preparations and military expeditions were the primary events which determined Seljuk foreign policy. However, the point which is shaping Alaeddin Keykubat?s foreign policy was mostly focusing on the eastern boundaries. This resulted from the threat of Mongolian invasion which had lasted since 1220. Particularly, since 1226, depending on the developments related to this threat, Alaeddin Keykubat?s entire interest of his foreign policy completely focused on East Anatolia. Threat of Mongolian invasion as a serious problem affecting the politics Alaeddin Keykubat followed in foreign policy played an important role in the development of the relationships of Alaeddin Keykubat with neighboring countries. His victories against Khwarazmshah and Ayyubids marked the signs of his concerns arisen from this threat. However, Alaeddin Keykubat brought the most perfect period to Turkish Seljuk State in the shade of Mongolian invasion. With his high insight, administrative competence, political and military cautiousness, peace-oriented nature He managed to keep away the invasion of the Mongols which became a border to the Anatolian country by occupying Iran and Azerbaijani as from 1231. Meanwhile, he defeated Celaleddin Harzemşah, who came to the point of posing a threat to Seljuk State and as implacable enemy of the Mongols in Yassiyemen War. He won a victory against Ayyubids and ultimately, Turkish Seljuk State became unrivalled during his reign in Anatolia and became more powerful than the all neighboring states except the Mongols.
