Abstract (EN)
Perlite, a porous, light and glassy structure, is a type of expandable volcanic rock. Expansion occurs by heating the perlite at 700-1200°C. These rocks are located in many parts of Turkey, and is a material used in various fields. It is widely used in agriculture, food, the chemical sector and most of all in construction. In this study, expanded perlite were used as adsorbent materials. The effects of contact time, initial concentration, adsorbent dosage, temperature and pH on adsorption were investigated. Isotherm and kinetic studies were performed with the obtained results. Adsorption isotherm and kinetic models of methylene blue with natural expanded perlite in aqueous solutions were investigated. Expanded perlite was 99% compatible with the Tempkin isotherm model. In the kinetic study, expanded perlite were 99% compatible with the pseudo-second kinetic model.
