Abstract (EN)

Colored wastewater produced as a byproduct of various textile processes and domestic laundering cause serious problems in terms of human health and environmental sustainability. Treatment facilities of dyeing plants lead to a waste of time and additional costs. Therefore low-cost and simple dye removal methods from such wastewaters will provide multiple benefits. In the context of thesis the usability of a nonwoven textile material for color removal from wastewaters produced both by domestic use and industrial processes was investigated. Adsorption characteristics of the nonwoven textile material were identified by adsorption isotherms (Langmuir, Freundlich, and BET). Adsorption kinetics of Setazol Turquoise Blue dye on nonwoven textile material was identified and pseudo second order model was found to represent it. The effects of domestic laundering conditions of the adsorption of Setazol Turquoise Blue dye on nonwoven textile materials were identified. Regarding the findings of this study, the nonwoven material investigated is suggested to be a cost effective alternative for the environmental problems regarding color removal and to contribute to the sustainable environment concept.
