Abstract (EN)
The demand for energy is growing day by day as a result of global population growth, industrialization, and the adoption of new technologies with high energy requirements. Today, fossil fuels are used primarily in producing energy, which is necessary for practically all aspects of daily living and industry. The quest for alternative energy sources has, however, been sped up due to the gradual depletion of these natural resources, the unpredictability of prices and supply, and the environmental issues that result from burning these resources. Renewable energy is presented first among these alternatives since it causes the least environmental harm and is widely accessible by everyone. In line with Turkey’s sustainable development policy, one of the main goals is to provide clean, affordable and accessible energy. In addition, energy is connected, either directly or indirectly, to all sustainable objectives. An overview of renewable energy sources is given in this study. The estimation of Turkey’s electricity consumption and the resource-dependent electricity generating policy that resulted from it is then assessed. A linear mathematical model that delivers the optimal share of each power generation technology has been developed in order to reduce costs and CO2 emissions. It has been demonstrated that power generation resources should be used to meet the annual electricity consumption using the proposed mathematical model. The subject of wind energy and the production of power from it is also discussed. Time series analysis is used to examine the historical wind speed data in the study’s chosen location and make future projections. Additionally, based on the monthly production data, an economic analysis of various wind turbines is conducted, and the viability of investment is assessed.
