Abstract (EN)
The concept of sustainability has gained importance with the increase in environmental and social problems due to the exponential growth in production and consumption. The fashion and textile industry is part of these problems due to the intensive production and consumption. Thus, it is important to establish a sustainable approach for the fashion and textile industry. The integration of sustainability to the product design process has a strong impact on the negative effects of the product. Thus, understanding this process is a growing necessity for sustainability. There is an urgent need for practical tools for designers to integrate sustainability. The strategies of TED (Textile, Environment, Design) have been created for designers to manage the design process. In this study, the product design process of a company operating in the field of home textiles is examined to assess the integration of sustainability and applicability of TED's strategies in corresponding processes. To increase the diversity and reliability of the data to be obtained in the study, a mixed research method is used and an action research is conducted. The integration of sustainability as well as the potential use and application of TED strategies in the product design process of a home textile company were determined. The data and suggestions obtained for the points where sustainability and TED strategies can be incorporated into the relevant processes and the deficiencies in their inclusion are presented.
