Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this thesis study is to reveal the disadvantaged situations of Syrian refugee women, who are the actors of the forced migration to Turkey as a result of the civil war in Syria, due to their gender roles, and to focus on the impact of NGOs on eliminating these disadvantages and empowering refugee women. In order to understand the change and feminization of the phenomenon of migration in the historical process, the theories of migration were examined separately and the criticisms and contributions of the feminist literature to the classical migration theories were focused. Thus, it is emphasized how classical migration theories and the dominant discourse developed based on these theories ignore women's experiences. Another aim of the study is to classify the activities of NGOs that contribute to the empowerment of Syrian refugee women and to interpret them from a feminist perspective. Since there are many NGOs working with Syrian refugees, this study focused on NGOs working on refugee women instead of listing all NGOs working in the field. These NGOs were determined and in the light of the information obtained from semi-structured interviews with NGO workers who took part in activities related to refugee women, it was tried to reach the effect of the activities organized on the empowerment of refugee women and whether this effect was sustainable.
