Syrian refugees adaptation processto Turkey: Afyonkarahisar case

The adaptation processes of Syrian asylum seekers in Afyonkarahisar city The Arab Spring, which emerged with the demands of the people of the Middle East for freedom and democracy, has affected many countries. Some of the authoritarian regimes have fallen and some others re-emerged in a different view than they were before. The outbreak of the Arab Spring in Syria, however, brought along the worst effects and the country was dragged into a civil war. The Syrian people have escaped the civil war and have migrated to different countries. In this regard, Turkey has been the country that allowed most immigration from Syria. The open door policy was applied to the Syrian immigrants, and after a while, the two communities passed on to the phase of living together. This study tackles all social processes of syrian immigrants in Turkey from the first day they came to Afyonkarahisar. This study focuses on the adaptation of immigrants to the Afyonkarahisar city and their problems, social changes and positive developments they have experienced during the integration process with the local people. This study consists of two parts; theoretical and practical. After the conceptual background was established, field work was carried out. In the first part, the concept of migration, the causes of migration, the concepts associated with migration, then the changes taking place with the emergence of the Arabs spring, and finally the adventure of Syrian immigrants together with the effects of the civil war in Syria. In the second part, an analysis of the findings from interviews conducted with Syrian immigrants and local people is carried out. In the implementation part of the work, interviews were carried out bilaterally in order for the harmonization process not to take place unilaterally and for the two communities to take part in this process. The findings obtained from interviews were evaluated together with a social reality.
