Abstract (EN)
Aim: Pulpotomy is a common vital endodontic treatment carried out in primary teeth with deep caries and without root pathology. The aim of this study is to investigate and compare the clinical and radiographic success rates of two different MTA products and Ferric Sulfate in pulpotomized primary molars during a follow up period of nine months. Material and Method: A total of 32 patients, aged between 5-9 years, who applied to Aydın Adnan Menderes University Department of Pediatric Dentistry for oral examination were included in this study. A total of 96 primary teeth with deep caries were treated with three different pulpotomy medicaments (O-MTA, R-MTA and FS). At 3, 6 and 9 months follow-up, clinical and radiographic success and failures were recorded. The data were analysed with Chi-square test, Cochran Q test, Post-Huc Dunn test and Kaplan-Meier analysis. Results: Clinical success rates were 100% in O-MTA and R-MTA groups and 93,7% in FS group. In radiographic evaluation, O-MTA, R-MTA, FS groups had the success rates of %90,6 %87,5 and %62,5 respectively. According to Chi-square test and Kaplan-Meier analysis, there was no difference between materials (p>0,05) regarding clinical success but radiographic success rate of FS group was less successful than the other groups (p<0,05). Conclusion: In the present study it was concluded that in primary teeth, OrthoMTA® and RetroMTA® pulpotomies were more successful compared to ferric sulfate pulpotomy both clinically and radiographically. Key Words: Pulpotomy, MTA, primary teeth, Ferric Sulfate
