Security strategy of Saudi Arabia 2000-2020

In our study, which will discuss how states determine their security policies in a unipolar international system and how they are affected, it is considered as a general assumption that power distribution is effective in determining state behavior. In the unipolar system, there is only one global actor, and its regional policies are important for regional powers. For the security strategies of regional powers, besides the system, regional powers and internal threats are the main determinants. Although the main factor that determines the security strategies of regional powers, especially the main threat, is the regional policies of the Super Power due to the structure of the system, the primary threat is determined by internal threats. Its strategy against these threats is shaped by the presence of an external threat associated with internal threats. The factor that determines state behavior for regional powers is thus considered as system, internal and regional threats. Among the state behaviors that determine security strategies, it is thought that the Saudi Arabian Regime's internal threats originating from its structural features are at the forefront of the elements that it sees as a threat to its regime. Therefore, in order to combat security threats, it is discussed that Saudi Arabia uses the double-balancing strategy by choosing the method of forming an alliance with an external threat, primarily related to its internal threats. Thus, he finds the opportunity to focus on the main external threat by pacifying the internal threat, which is the main threat to his regime, with the associated external threat. In this study, the elements that Saudi Arabia sees as a threat to the security of the regime will be associated with the regional policies of the superpower and the system will be examined as regional and domestic politics in two different periods, between the years 2000-2010 and 2010-2020.
