An investigation of the psychological effects of the use of fast-paced music on athletes in Taekwondo teaching

The aim of this study is to examine the psychological effects of the athletes' commitment to sports, motivation to participate in physical activity and motivation levels in sports on the psychological effects of individuals in the eight-week taekwondo training by using fast-paced music and combining movement, music and rhythm components. The study utilized a randomized design with pretest-posttest control group from quantitative research methods. The participants of the study consisted of 30 unbiased, randomly selected individuals aged between 10-12 years. As data collection tools, "Motivation in Sport Scale II" adapted into Turkish by Öcal and Sakallı (2018), "Sports Commitment Scale" adapted into Turkish by Kayhan, Bardakçı and Caz (2020), "Motivation to Participate in Physical Activity Scale" developed by Tekkurşun Demir and Cicioğlu (2018) and demographic information form were used. In the analysis of the data, normal distribution was checked with since the number of participants was less than 50, Shapiro-Wilk analysis values were taken into consideration and parametric tests were used to analyze the data. Reliability was tested with Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient. As a result, there was no significant difference in the pre and post test scores of the Motivation to Participate in Physical Activity Scale and Motivation in Sport Scale-II in the experimental and control groups. However, it was observed that there was a significant difference in the experimental group according to the pre and post test scores of the Sports Commitment Scale and it was determined that the general average increased after the application.
