An analysis of home advantage in taekwondo in poomsae category

This research was conducted to examine whether the country in which the Taekwondo branch competes in the Poomsae category had an impact on the athlete of the host country in winning a medal. The results of the competition in the categories of 1741 male athletes,1244 female athletes and 444 pairs(pairs) who competed at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships between 2006 and 2016 were used for data analysis. Since there is no draw situation due to the nature of individual sports, the result of the competition is determined as the winner and the loser. Binary logistic regression statistical analysis method was used for the analysis of these data sets. The SPSS 24.0 package program was used to interpret the analyses. Home advantage was determined as a significant value (p<0.05) in the analysis of the probability of athletes winning medals in their country.
