The Hurşid-Name masnavi of Şeyhoglu Mustafa in terms of narrative

The narrative, which is as old as the history of humanity, has always found the opportunity to express itself in any form. Although these genres change according to the ages, their names are sometimes fairy tales, epics, masnavi, sometimes novels, but the common point of all of them is the narration of events. Although the texts, expression styles and forms are different from each other, the basis of all the texts related to the narrative is based on an event. While the event in question is decorated with extraordinary things in the fairy tale and heroism in the epic, it is decorated with poetry in the masnavi. Masnavi, which require mastery in Divan literature, are a form of verse that divan poets apply to show their skills. Mesnevi is a type of text that is written in the form of poetry, but contains structural elements such as plot, heroes, place, time, point of view, and even expression techniques. In our thesis, we have tried to reveal the structural elements and narrative techniques of masnavis, which are partially ignored, in accordance with the classical text, without claiming to bring them closer to genres such as stories and novels. Since the events in the masnavi are far from extraordinary and livable, it has been determined that the names of the places are similar to the texts related to the narrative, considering the fact that the language used is close to the daily spoken language of that period. In this style, Hurşîd-Nâme, which is a traditional text, has been evaluated as a work that should be examined with similar techniques to modern story and novel. In this study, the masnavi named Hurşîd-Nâme of Şeyhoğlu Mustafa, one of the artists of 14th century divan literature, will be discussed in terms of narration elements.
