Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine the sportsmanship orientations of high school students participating in team sports in Tunceli. The study aimed to reach 434 students participating in team sports competitions at the high school level in Tunceli, but 409 volunteer students were reached. A personal information form and the "Multidimensional Sportsmanship Orientation Scale", whose validity and reliability have been proven, were used and analysis was conducted using the SPSS 21.0 program. When we look at the answers given by the participants, considering the cases where the data showed a normal distribution, the "t-test" was applied between two variables, and in cases where there were more than two variables, the "ANOVA" test was applied and the significance level was taken as 0,05 and a 95% confidence interval was used in the hypothesis tests performed. According to the results obtained from the scale, the Commitment to Responsibilities in Sports sub-dimension has the highest score with 21,05. It is followed by Respect for Rules and Management with 19,60, and Compliance with Social Norms with 19,52. The sub-dimension with the lowest score is Respect for Opponents, scoring 17,67. Class Variable: No significant differences were found in any of the sub-dimensions. Gender Variable: A significant difference was found in the Commitment to Responsibilities in Sports sub-dimension in favor of female students, while no significant differences were found in the other sub-dimensions. School Type Variable: Significant differences were found in all sub-dimensions. In Compliance with Social Norms sub-dimension, sports high school and Anatolian high school students scored higher than vocational high school students. In Respect for Rules and Management sub-dimension, fine arts high school and Anatolian high school students scored higher than vocational high school students. In the Commitment to Responsibilities in Sports sub-dimension, sports high school and Anatolian high school students scored higher than vocational high school students. In Respect for Opponents sub-dimension, Anatolian high school students scored higher than vocational high school students. Participation in Team Sports: No significant difference was found in the Respect for Opponents sub-dimension, while significant differences were found in the other sub-dimensions. In Compliance with Social Norms sub-dimension, students who preferred football, basketball, handball, and rafting scored higher than those who preferred volleyball. Respect for Rules, and Management and Commitment to Responsibilities in Sports sub-dimensions, students who preferred basketball scored higher than those who preferred volleyball. Licensed Athletes: Significant differences were found in favor of licensed athletes in Compliance with Social Norms and Commitment to Responsibilities in Sports sub-dimensions, while no significant differences were found in the other sub-dimensions. Academic Success and Family Economic Status Variables: No significant differences were found in any of the sub-dimensions. When we consider the statistical results, we can make some suggestions: The study can be conducted by spreading the sample group selected from Tunceli province to a wider area. The scope of the research can be expanded by including not only students who do team sports but also athlete students who do individual sports. Sportsmanship training can be provided for minors, young people and adults separately, considering their age and developmental characteristics. Friendly competitions can be organized with the opposing team to create environments where they will respect each other. The behaviors of individuals who are role models such as coaches, managers, and competent athletes in their fields can be good examples.
