Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to discover the differences in injury types and injured body parts experienced by basketball, football, volleyball, and handball players, bodybuilders, and boxers based on variables such as "gender, age, sports branch, years engaged in sports, health check, weekly workout time, workout time, warm-up time, cool-down time, recovery time, medical personnel, adequate information, source of information, career-ending injuries, use of assistive devices.'' Material and Method: The universe of the research is detremined as 212 athletes in total, 180 of them playing professional team sports and 32 of amateur individual sports in Turkish leagues in 2020-2021. 116 of these athletes are female athletes and 96 of them are male athletes. In this study, the scanning method, one of the quantitative research designs, is used. In the collection of data, questionnaire created by us quoting from previous similar studies was used. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected all countries as of March 2020, the scale was edited in Google Forms and delivered to athletes via applications such as mail and WhatsApp. SPSS 17.0 (Statistical Packet for Social Sciences) software is used in the analysis of research data. Percentage, frequency, average, one way anova test, tukey test and t-test are used for descriptive statistics in data analysis. Results: According to the data obtained in the research, injury types and injured body parts show significant differences between subgroups based on variables such as "age, gender, years engaged in sports, use of assistive devices preventing injury or for treatment, weekly workout time, warm-up time, cool-down, adequate information, source of information and exact recovery time.'' Conclusion: According to the results of the study, it has been found that the age factor affects injuries in a negative way. In addition, the more years spent engaging in sports, the more injury types and injured body parts an athlete experience. Athletes who use assistive materials during workouts or matches experience fewer types of injuries and injured body parts than athletes who do not use any assistive materials. In conclusion, insufficient warm-up and cool-down increases the risk level of injury. It has been revealed that athletes who have adequate information about injuries face fewer injury types and injured body parts than athletes who lack information about injuries. It is concluded that the branches of athletes, whether they had a check-up, got injured in a way that forces them to abandon the workout or match, the presence of medical personnel where the injury occurred and workout time have no effect on the injury.
