Masonary disciplines perception of society from Tanzimat reform Era up to the first years of Turkish Republic

ABSTRACT In this work ,perception of Masonary Discipline of Turkish Society in theperiod, in between theem perialedict of Gülhane andearly years of Turkish Republic had beenexamined. During ourwork, archives, catologs, newspaapers and magazines had beens canned to analyze the question of masons perception of Turkish society.Historical analyses had been used systematically and certain people tahat had been working on the subject had been interviewed. It had been indicated that theem perialedict of Gülhane had revealed theideas of liberty, eguality, justice and the Masonary fellowship Even Namık Kemal who had been moved by the Englightmentideas, acording to Irene Melikof, had joined the Masonary because of the concepts of liberty,equality and justice.During the Tanzimat Reform Erat he number of lodges in Turkey had increased. They had contributed to the formation of the Ottoman Basic law during Constitutional Monarchy Period.But during the totolitarianrein of Abdülhamid II,using the capitulations theyc atched the apportinity to workeasily. As a matter of fact because Abdülhamid couldn't track the masonsclosely enough, he had attended the benefit balls of the masons. During the Republic Period, the lodges had preserved their existance until 1926.Due to the Masonary deliberations,e conomiccrisis of 1929 and the negative developments in the foreingn policy, the lodgesentered a reposeera. In this work the perception of Masonary of Turkish Society is examined by analysing liberty,equality,fellowship,cooparation,womensrights,education,pres,artandreligionunderstanding of Turkishsociety and how with the help of these perceptions they have shaped the the Turkishsociety is explained.
