Abstract (EN)

We see that the rapid changes seen in the worl in the 19th century were also reflected in the Ottoman Empire. With the proclamation of the Tanzimat, in which westernization effords gained momentum, innovation movements began in many areas. The town of Gerede, which was a small town in the Ottoman Empire, was also greatly affected by these changes. In fact, it the possible to see the reflection of the developments in the state in Gerede in particular. This tudy, it is aimed to understand the developments in the Ottoman Empire and to contribute to the history of the region, based on the developments that took place in Gerede between 1839 and 1908. When I do this; population records, income boks, judge decision, Bolu and Kastamonu annuals and records in the state archives were used. İn addition, research works written in the field were examined. This study includes information about the changes that took place in Gerede and its surroundings, as well as revealing the social, economic and administrative structure in the second half of the 19th century.
