Teacher's views on the place and usage of oral history in date teaching

Abstract (EN)
In this research, it was tried to determine the opinions of the teachers about the place and use of oral history in history teaching. The study group of this research carried out with the basic qualitative research approach constitutes 10 history teachers working in public schools in A in Eastern Anatolia Region in the academic year of 2016-2017. One of the purposeful sampling methods used to determine the participants was the "easy sampling" method, which gave speed and practicality to the research. As a data collection tool, semi-structured interview form prepared with various sub-questions related to the flow of the interviewer was used. The data were analyzed by content analysis technique, the opinions of interviewed individuals were given directly and the findings were interpreted and interpreted. In the presentation of the data, tables were prepared and opinions were given together with the frequencies. In the presentation of the data, quotations from the teacher's views were made exactly. Nicknames are used instead of the actual names of the teachers. During the interview; the views of oral history on the place of history teaching, the use of oral history in history teaching and opinions on reasons, the opinions of oral history activities and the lessons that are being worked on different from the other methods, the opinions that teachers should pay attention to and the opinions on competencies, questions about the effects of oral history studies on students' attitudes towards history lessons, and the advantages and limitations of using oral history in history teaching. According to the findings obtained in the research, it is found that history teachers have the current knowledge about verbal history, it is useful to include oral history studies in history teaching, that all teachers include oral history studies in their lessons and that giving these studies in practice may have positive results in terms of history teaching, it has been found that the use of oral history is beneficial according to other methods, that teacher approaches are important for verbal history use, that oral history studies will positively influence students' attitudes toward history lesson, that oral history use contributes to history teaching and that there is some limitations in verbal history use in history teaching. At the end of the research, some suggestions on solution of the problem in the obtained light are presented.
