Food related decision-making processes in prehistory

Decision-making processes related to food in prehistory of hunter-gatherers and food producers are the focus of this research. General patterns and individual decisions of people with different lifestyles are investigated. Hunter-gatherers and food producers tended to differentiate in terms of food and related decision-making processes. Emergence of new relationships between humans and other organisms (particularly plants and non-human animals) with domestication are considered. Humans are assessed as a part of the environment in which they lived. A relatively wholistic approach examining food related decision-making processes were adopted. The topic was investigated through an interdisciplinary approach including archaeobotany, archaeozoology and stable isotope analysis. In addition, paleopathological effects of the subsistence are evaluated.
